Revelation

Ok, time for a happer post. I had an absolute BLAST with my friends last night!! SO much fun! And after going 26 years without ever hearing Garth Brooks' "Callin' Baton Rouge" I've now heard it twice within a month--both at Christmas parties. After hearing it the first time I liked it so much that I downloaded it, which meant I knew the words and I could sing along last night. Good times :)

As last night's post conveys, the whole, "fuck off, just fuck off! Ok where the hell is _____, I need to know where she is!" incident really pissed me off. Despite coming home and staying up for another hour, I was still angry when I went to bed. I really don't like people getting angry with me and thinking they can tell me what to do. To sidetrack for a moment, I'm on medication for anxiety/depression. I recently found out that one of the side effects can be "extremely vivid and strange dreams". Umm yeah. My dreams are always very vivid, and I can usually remember most of them the next morning. Okay, now that you're armed with that piece of background information, back to my story. I had a dream last night that my step-dad was getting in my face about something, like he always used to do. When I was a kid I was scared of him and helpless. But in my dreams--especially within the past six months or a year--I've been standing up to him. It seems whenever someone tries to push me around in "real life" or when I feel like I'm being walked on, I have these dreams. But in them I'm not the scared, helpless kid I once was. I stand up to him... dish back what he gives me... and call him out on all the rotten things he ever said and did to me. It's funny because I wake up with this incredible feeling of... satisfaction. I'm intrigued that my daytime anger carries over into my sleep, and seems to find a way of resolving itself during the night. Like a mental boxing match to blow off some steam or something.

Anyway... that's about it for this update. I'm really looking forward to this week. My boss is supposed to be taking me for lunch tomorrow, which will be a good time to drill him about getting a bigger raise next year. And Wednesday is "Turkey day" where they feed us lunch--historically turkey dinner but the past few years it's been ham and all the trimmings from a great Ukranian restaurant in town--then we drink all afternoon. I've already got mom lined up as my designated driver :) Then Thursday is the family get-together at my place :D Best week of the year in my opinion :)

Cheers, and Merry Christmas to all!
